Cisco designs to receive Israeli startup Portshift, a move that would add important security tools to Cisco’s platform for deploying and handling Kubernetes container clusters.

Cisco announced the acquisition this 7 days, stating it expects to complete the deal just before the finish of January. Cisco, which designs to retain Portshift’s 14 workforce, did not disclose economical facts.

Portshift technology gives critical security applications for companies that use the open supply Kubernetes orchestration procedure to deploy containers in cloud environments. Portshift’s items supply vulnerability and configuration administration, network segmentation, knowledge encryption and compliance auditing.

Cisco has a Kubernetes-pushed container administration platform for deploying containers, delivering network products and services and applying bug fixes. The platform also displays usage designs.

Security is an region that Cisco wanted to strengthen inside its container tools, stated IDC analyst Jim Mercer. “They know that they will need to have a little something obtainable on the platform to offer security to their end users.”
